Reduce your environmental footprint one strategy at a time.

What will happen during my House Call?

Each House Call takes approximately 1/2 day, during which we will thoroughly review your home with you, including doing a blower door test to check the airtightness of the enclosure and then sit down to discuss the measures you can undertake to improve the efficiency and use of resources in your home.  Among the items we will evaluate are:

  • Health and Safety issues throughout the home (carbon monoxide levels / moisture problems)
  • Air Infiltration Rates
  • Insulation Levels
  • Domestic Hot Water Systems
  • Heating Systems Efficiency
  • Cooling System / Central Air Conditioning Efficiency (if applicable)
  • Distribution System (ductwork) – (if applicable)
  • Lighting
  • Major Appliances
  • Other (roofing, siding, windows etc.)

We will discuss your budget for appropriate strategies that could save you money in the future, and gather information to help determine if your project is eligible for government incentives or tax rebates for this work.

Upgrades might range from small steps like changing your lightbulbs and showerheads, to larger projects like insulating your roof, weatherizing your walls or installing radiant flooring or solar panels.

Together, we will begin to create a plan tailored to your unique green goals and budget, taking into consideration your home’s existing structure as well as your aesthetic tastes.

The goal of a Toeprint House Call is to help you define strategies and make the upgrade choices that will be the most practical and efficient for your family, your home and our planet.

After my House Call, then what?
